Are you ready to have the BEST day ever?

Up and at ‘em! No matter if you’re a night owl or an early bird, the way you start your morning has a huge impact on the rest of your day. A while ago, the first 10 (okay, maybe 20..30) minutes of my morning were spent on my smartphone updating myself on the happenings in the digital world. And by the time I was out of bed, I’d be stressed, anxious and super envious of the #wanderlust hashtags.

What if you spent those 10 minutes differently? Here’s how, on my best days, I set up for a badass 24 hours, feeling like a total BOSS:

1. Set out clothes the night before

Just do it! You’ll save soooo much time in the morning.

2. Wake up earlier

Set your alarm for 15 minutes earlier than you’re used to

3. Go to the light

Research shows a little light may be all we need to reset the body block. A simple solution is to keep the blinds open during the night. Or greet the day and brush your teeth outside! (While waving to the neighbours…)

4. Make your bed

By taking this small step to create outer order, you create inner calm.

5. Drink water

A great way to jump-start your body first thing is to drink a glass of cool water.

6. Do 10 minutes of cardio

When it comes to exercising in the a.m., it’s way easier to be a wimp than a warrior! However studies have shown that an early morning sweat session not only benefits your body but also your to-do list.

7. Have Breakfast

Sleepiness doesn’t disappear just from drinking a cup of coffee. Having enough time for some green, eggs and ham will also provide energy, not to mention it’ll boost that brainpower, too.

8. Set one goal

Stop and meditate on setting one goal for the day. It can be something as basic as finishing a project, or as adventurous as trying out a new skill. Write it down, then check it off your list once accomplished. You’ll feel awesome and totally motivated to try new things!

9. Get excited

Get excited for one thing in the day and write it where you can see it!

I love lists, my hair always sits weirdly on my head, and I can't get through a day without obsessing over my 2 crazy pups. I haven’t changed much since I was a kid—illustrating, crafting and eating cookies are still at the top of my favourites list. When I’m not rambling about in my head looking for words, I’m found either glued to a computer or to a book.
